Certificates of Potability / Use and Occupancy Permits
A Certificate of Potability (COP) is an official document issued from your local health department certifying that a private well supplies SAFE drinking water.
In Maryland, a valid COP is required before the local county or municipality will issue a Use and Occupancy (U&O) Permit (or Certificate of Occupancy) for a new home or replacement dwelling served by a private well.
